Institute for Contemporary Art Pittsburgh

New Building

Located at the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Craig Street across from the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History, our new ICA Pittsburgh will be a marquee element of the university’s Richard King Mellon Hall of Sciences—an expansive new building complex by ZGF Architects designed to foster collaboration across the arts, sciences and technology. Conceived as a two-part structure, with a loop and a tower, the building will feature the ICA and other public spaces including a restaurant in the loop, while the tower will house academic and research facilities for the Mellon College of Science and the School of Computer Science.

Our 30,000-square-foot facility will triple our previous space and feature four flexible galleries and programmatic spaces, inviting cross-disciplinary inquiry and community engagement. This vision is made possible by extraordinary support, anchored by a significant leadership grant of $15 million from the Juliet Lea Hillman Simonds Foundation and the Henry L. Hillman Foundation. More information about the design of our new space can be found here.
